St. Mary and St. Richard Faith Formation Program

Often used interchangeably with "religious education" or "catechesis"

Faith Formation refers to everything that contributes to a person's growth in faith and intimacy with Jesus Christ:  evangelization, religious instruction, liturgy, sacraments, service to others, faith sharing, personal prayer, life experiences, and so on.

Parents are the first and most effective teachers of their children

especially in proclaiming the Good News of Christ. The Faith Formation program provides support for parents and formal instruction for their children in grades 1-8, as well as preparation for the sacraments of Penance and Reconciliation (Confession), First Eucharist (Communion), and Confirmation.

As we prepare for the 2020-2021
St. Mary / St. Richard Faith Formation Program, Fr. Sean, our catechists, and I are formulating a plan in the event it becomes necessary to conduct classes remotely via Zoom. Each family would need a stable internet connection and an available computer or laptop, with a camera, to connect on Zoom.

We plan to resume in-person classes in September but realize we must be flexible given the continually evolving situation with Covid-19. Our decisions will follow recommendations from the Archdiocese of Detroit, Michigan Department of Education, and the CDC.

Thank you.  Please stay well!
